One time

The power went out for three days

And all the food in my fridge spoiled

I was devastated, considering

I was working as a substitute teacher at the time

And that was a week’s worth of food, spoiled.

I posted about it on one of my

Social accounts

And one of my rich, east coast friends

Who doesn’t know how to cook,

Pays for subscriptions to hot yoga,

And has their parents pay their rent

Made fun of me

For making such a big deal

Out of a “minor inconvenience”

It’s almost as if

She is so used to people

Wiping her ass for her, and paying

All of her bills, she didn’t even remember

That her parents don’t pay mine as well.
