Closeted
As long as non-binary identities
Exclude and ignore men who present
Masculine, there will never be any room
For anyone who was born female
To transcend their gender and become
More than just a woman.
As long as non-binary identities are tied to
The feminine, people will always see
My non-binary masculinity
As a woman
And I think that’s exactly why
I stopped telling anyone I’m non-binary
Unless they ask, which they never do
I’m trying to live as a man and
The only way I get to experience that
Is by hiding most of my past, present
Most of who I am
Sometimes I wonder if all of this is worth it
Considering how closeted I’ve become
In my attempt to be free I have had to hide
All of who I am.
