In America

Your worth

Is money.

Your decisions

Only mean as much

As their value

In USD.

You need

Money to live,

Money to medicate

Money to be diagnosed and

Money to be poor.

In America

You have to pay your debts

While you’re in prison

And if you’re not in prison

You have to pay your debts

As if you are in a prison

Of dollars and cents.

No one ever cares

That none of it adds up, or

Makes any sense–

No one cares that

Some jobs are valued

Too much, while others

Are valued too little–

The only thing that matters

Are the dollars you have

No matter if you earned it or not–

It’s just dollars and

Nonsense.
