Fat Hatred/Fat Lies

People will literally judge a fat person

More than they will judge

A coke head.

People will literally call a fat person

Gluttonous before they apply

The same principal

To an alcoholic.

I’m sick of pretending

As if the majority of the population

Doesn’t treat health like it is something

You can photograph for instagram,

Or measure at a department store.

I’m desperately in search

Of anyone

Who acknowledges that

Fat hatred

Is prospering in the era

Of disease, poverty, climate change

And racial inequality.

How is it that we have managed

To get so many people on the same page

About so many issues

But body neutrality is still considered

Dangerous.

I’m sick of the bigots, the hypocrites

I’m sick of the performative allies and

I’m sick of the fat lies.
