I’ve Always Known Who I Am

When I was little I tried to keep a diary but

I wrote each day and quickly noticed

“Nothing has happened to me, yet”

It seemed so incredibly superfluous

To write a diary

As someone who couldn’t leave the house unattended.

I tried my hand at

Fiction, a few times and I eventually gravitated towards

Songs and poems. I really really enjoyed poems.

I thought to myself

“I wish everyone

Would just speak in poems”

Little did I know someday I’d watch

Letterkenney as a man,

Writing poetry about how

I’ve always known who I am.
