Marie Antoinette’s American Ancestry/Take Me Back To When Grown Adults Had Pubes

Y’all

What the hell

I’m starting to think

That this might be

The cultural revolution

We’ve been aching for…

It just sucks because

I wanted it to be

A cultural revolution hell-bent on

Drugs, love, sex, live music and poetry

But alas we got

Fentanyl, meth, war, poverty

Electronic music and ecstasy

Now the fascists are madder than hell

And our country is making itself great

No matter who is at the helm.

I’m not feeling optimistic, I’ve got

An overwhelming sense of dread

I’ve had the urge to sharpen my

Shooting skills, stockpile, and

Wait for things to blow over

But everywhere I look

I see Marie Antoinette’s

American ancestry

Being hoisted into power

I’m not worried about my own skin

That much I know for certain—

But I am a bit disappointed

I never got to live in the 60’s or 70’s

Based on what I’ve heard

I would’ve at least enjoyed the music more

I never wanted to live

In the French Revolution

From what we learned in school

People were stressed, people were mean,

People were rude !

Somebody grab me a time machine

And take me back to when

Grown adults had pubes—

This kind of revolution is rather

Exhausting and I’m feeling quite blue.
