The Ohio River

Today I learned that my dads side of the family is from

Middlesex

And that my family was part of a boat of people

Who settled in Pennsylvania in 1600 and

Floated down to Gallipolis

And I learned what I already knew

In my heart for so many years that

My family has been living

Where I’m from

For more than 400 years.

No wonder I hate everywhere besides

The Ohio river — and here I thought I was just

Weird for craving

Mothman and corn with some

Moonshine on the porch.
